Ririe Ice Really! - OvidCreek - 01-11-2009
On our way to Pali
es I stopped at Ririe to check if any ice conditions exisited. To my joy most of Ririe is caped. Some open water is still there. This is not safe ice; a stiff breeze would blow it right off. OK so we all need to think good thoughts and be kind to people. Lets not upset the fishing powers that be or make Jack Frost mad this week! OvidCreek

Great news. Hopefully it will solidify this week so that we can get at it in a couple of weeks. Those who do not know Ririe need to be careful on the new ice because it can be ok in spots and then spotty in the middle for the first few weeks of new ice.

I got a report yesterday from one of the sporting good stores in town saying some people have been fishing it in the last week. however, that said they reported only 2-2 1/2 inches of ice and they stayed very close to shore. No info on how the action was, just reported trout and kokes were involved. Even though, I think I'll hold off for a little longer.
