Suggestions for striper fishing - new_guy - 01-03-2009 Hey everybody, this is my first post. I am looking for a new rod and reel, and advice would be really appreciated. I am aiming for stripers, and I will be fishing off of a pier or beach. My budget right now is around 100 dollars or lower. I am thinking about brands like daiwa which are affordable for me but i'm open to any brand. Any suggestions on specs or certain models would really help me out. What area are you fishing these Stripers?? it sounds like East Coast. Try to give me an approximation and I can give you some good pointers. Compo set ups seem to be the most cost effective. For surf I'd go to a 8' rod. I use braided line on my striper rigs because it gets the lure or bait out further. Open faced spinning reels are my choice. This time of year you can find some schoolies in the rivers holding over. [signature] |
