Steelhead fishing Boise River - Soundsfishy - 11-18-2008

First time steelhead fisher here.
Any advice as where to go, I went once to Americana bridge and another to park center. Do they move up or down stream after they are planted.

You want the deepest holes right?

Saw lots fishing but, no one catching anything.
I was using jigs, bobber and shrimp. Others were fly fishing.

Tring real hard to get my boy hooked on fishing...

The steelhead planted in the Boise tend not to move far. Look for them at Ann M. right where the trail from the parking lot heads down to the river. Early morning is the best time. One guy who successfully fishes it a lot actually uses worms. Your techniques should work fine. Better success than the fly fishermen, probably. Good luck. Too much like combat fishing for me!! If your son is anxious to catch fish, try Horsethief, or closer to Boise, I've been doing all right at Arrowrock. PM me for more info about Arrowrock or Horsethief. Mike
