Generally the reports have been slow since the weekend, except for Long Sand Shoal which has been hot. The mouth of the Connecticut River has had a few schoolies, down significantly from the previous week. The mouth of the Thames River is shaping up for its usual late fall bash of school bass. The Rhode Island shore is also on the downswing as baitfish seem to be vacating. There were some third hand reports of herring on the beaches, but no gannets. Montauk still has a lot of baitfish with small to medium sized bass. BLUEFISH - This week was the first sign that they were thinning out a bit. Theres still some jumbos around the mouth on the Connecticut River but the bunker are just about all gone giving the blues little to hang around for. BLACKFISH- Last weeks surge has lost its momentum this week. Reports from Southwest and Black Point had fewer and smaller blacks towards the end of the week. Looks like the reefs will get a few days off for bad weather next week and that should improve things. The best reports are still coming from the smaller rockpiles.
