Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - rw02kr43 - 10-29-2008 I was at the lake to fish last week and was walking along the beach and saw these holes. They were so smooth and round. What made them? Jason [signature] Re: [rw02kr43] Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - lunkerhunter2 - 10-30-2008 meteorites, just kidding i have no idea but very interesting. Is this in UT or ID by chance? There has been known volcanic activity in the past in those states.[shocked] [signature] Re: [tubeN2] Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - rw02kr43 - 10-30-2008 no this was on a beach in southern Indiana last weekend. there were quite a few more of these holes. I only took pics of 2 though. They were all over the beach Jason [signature] Re: [rw02kr43] Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - tubeN2 - 10-30-2008 It could still be hydrostatic related. Non geothermal.[cool] [signature] Re: [tubeN2] Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - kochanut - 10-30-2008 i say fresh water clams! but then again i cant see the pic here at work [signature] Re: [kochanut] Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - rw02kr43 - 10-30-2008 could a fresh water clam make a hole that big? the bigger one in the pics was about 2'x3' [signature] Re: [rw02kr43] Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - gdn443 - 10-31-2008 Looks like a sink hole to me. Seen some small ones at RI beaches. [signature] Re: [rw02kr43] Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - IndyFishing - 11-06-2008 That is weird, I've seen some clams make holes but not that big, if that's a clame hole, I don't want to see the clam. Maybe a kid dug some holes in the past and then they washed out with rain or something. ![]() [signature] Re: [rw02kr43] Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - rhonda1717 - 12-06-2008 How big are the holes? [signature] Re: [rhonda1717] Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - rw02kr43 - 12-08-2008 the ones in these pics are about 2' by 4'. There were a bunch of them all different sizes all over the beach. But they were all very smooth Jason [signature] Re: [rw02kr43] Not fishing related, but what made these holes? - Bassnbob - 12-10-2008 I gotta ask, did it rain a day or two before you saw the holes? One has water in it and the other shows it had water in it by the rings along the sides just like a reservoir when it drops. It could be the consistency of the sand kinda like a sink hole effect.
