The Cold Weeb - sinergy - 10-27-2008 So I headed up to Taggart this morning got there about 7-ish and boy was it COLD everything had frost on it including me. Water levels are pretty low Id say ankle deep but the water clarity is probably the clearest Ive seen it in a while. You could actually see schools of white fish swimming around. Walked about a mile or so fished any of the semi deep holes I could find Id thought with how early I got there Id would have done better but 5 White fish and 2 chubby browns. Left about noonish Strange Id spot the schools of white fish threw every nymph I knew that worked in the past but no takers. The only takers were the loners I spotted in the deeper holes??? Other than that maybe the drift was a little more difficult in the shallower water or they could see your fly better? Who knows? I got up there round 2 and fished till 5ish and ended up catching 4 browns and 2 bows. A couple of the browns were super small but hey, a fish is a fish! [cool][cool][cool] Im jonesin for some good pics from the weeb or really any good fly fishing pics. Im thinking those whites are more interested in spawning instead of feeding also with the water clarity im thinkin there abit more selective. [signature] Re: [GP] The Cold Weeb - Soft_Plastics - 11-20-2008 It is alway a good idea to kill as many whitefish as possible. [signature] Re: [Soft_Plastics] The Cold Weeb - sinergy - 11-20-2008 why do you you say kill the white fish ? [signature] Re: [sinergy] The Cold Weeb - Soft_Plastics - 11-20-2008 I should have been more clear. When I said kill as many as possible I meant keep your limit. The last time I talked to the Fish and Game there fish count data on the Weber was 8 white fish to 1 trout. They don't fight hard at all, they also directly compete with trout for food, and they aren't bad smoked. The Weber is great fishing and there are some really big fish in there, I would just like to see it better. Less white fish would make more room for trout. But I too feel like something should be done to limit the white fish population. I rarely keep any fish unless im camping hmm maybe I should buy a creel... Any suggestions on good ways to harvest a fish or 2 while wading the river all day ??? This older fellow uses socks to keep his fish wet while fishing all day long. He has is stringer than when he catches a fish. He will pull out a sock from is tackle. but the fish in the sock puts the sock on the stringer buts it in the water. So when he walks around the fish is always wet. that is just what i have seen. it might be good. Pineviewfisher [signature] |
