Filling my tackle box for first pier fishing trip - mike_wahl - 09-01-2008 Im heading to Myrtle Beach in 2 weeks and planned on doing some fishing down there from some of the local piers and off the beach. This will be my first time and Im a little unsure about what tackle I will need and was hoping to get some hints or tips. Im taking two saltwater poles with me, one is a shakespeare Alpha rod with the Alpha 60 reel and the other belongs to my father and im not sure what exactly his is. In any case, I planned on setting one up for bottom fishing and the other for a lure. What pound test would I be safe with and what types of lure/bait should I use? I dont really have a species in mind im after, so any suggestions in that direction would be helpful as well! I picked up a pair of pliers and a knife, as well as some heavy duty leaders and big hooks, im not sure how much weight im going to need. Thanks for your help, just want to make sure I have the neccesities. [signature] |
