fishing piers - fishintexas - 08-17-2008
I am new to Wa and need to find a few places to fish. What I would really like to know is what public piers offer some chance to catch anything and what times of year give me a chance to stretch a line. I would love to find a pier that alows night fishing.
Also is crabbing possible off of piers?

Crabbing is possible off of piers, however you'll do much better from a boat, out in deeper water. What area are you in?

I am in sonhomish, but I am wiling to drive for a real chance at catching something. Fishing even without actually catching something would not be bad if I had some confidence that I was in a decent spot and was not just waisting time. I used fishing as my way of relaxing before I moved from texas and really miss it.

Ok, so you are nearby. You can go to Mukilteo and there is a boat launch there. There is also a fishing pier to fish from. People do catch crabs nearby, and I believe sometimes from the pier too.
Make sure to follow the crabbing rules for minimum size, sex, season, etc. I've gone out from Mukilteo with a friend and caught some this summer - I have the black fingernail where one grabbed me to prove it. :-D Had some delicious crab cakes!

I would try tacoma pier. That was very good for me. I caught a stingray, Dogshark, Ratfish. all in the same night. Just using shrimp. Pineviewfisher

There's another public fishing pier in Edmonds as well. I think they sometimes even catch salmon from it.
