I think this is the normal fishing knot & could be used in many purposes.
In our place, Indochina area, where catfish is very common, we use some techniques to catch catfish.

I already watched these clips. It is not workable in here, the pond you see. What I use is not a common rig that sinker is not used in any case. Instead, 2 big baits are work as the sinker. The rig must be 1 meter long so that when the fish eat the bait, they could freely run away then it is time to set hook.
