Hit the same area again this week, it was a blast. I caught my biggest ever carp on a fly rod and caught a bunch of big fish.

Nice job on those carp. Not a fly angler, but I can still imagine that those have got to be a blast on a fly rod. Looks like you were fishing near Saltair (in Utah). If I am right, you should also make a post on the Utah forum.

I was about three hundred yards away from the great salt lake, it was about fifteen miles west of the airport I don't know what it was called exactly but it was around there. I hope this kinda helps, sorry I can't be more specific.

Great pics of some big carp. Thanks for sharing. I have to admit, I'm a little more intrigued to give the carp thing on a fly rod a try, but there is no way I'm holding one up for a picture unless its on the end of a pitch fork.

I am with you. I did pick the one up from Utah lake, but that was in my pontoon.
Plus they are hard to pickup because they are so thick.

Joni, All of my extended family lives down there and sometimes my family just decides they are going to utah for a couple days. I think I might be going sometime next week? I'll let you know and maybe we can fish.

There is an awesome article about fly fishing for carp in the september issue of fly fisherman magazine. It is written by dave whitlock and it is very good. If anyone has ever been interested in trying this he gives a lot of good info.
