Great day of Peacock Bass fishing - migrod - 07-14-2008

These are just a few of the nice Peacocks I caught today. These are hard fighting gamefish that gave some great leaps clear out the water. The fast and strong runs these awesome fish gave are truly unmatched from any other species. It was a blast!

Hey Gerry
Great looking Pike!!!
No I haven't caught neither a Pike or Musky.
Those species live in colder waters up north
from where I live. The closest species we have
down here is the Chain Pickeral that is a lot
smaller than the Pike and Musky.

With that being said, those two species are definitely
on my list of fish to catch. I will be planning a trip to
the northern states and pursue those toothy beasts.

That is a great Trophy Pike you got there!
Well done.

Those are some nice Peacocks. They look like the size of Bass that I catch when I go to Florida.[cool]

Thanks Sundog

Hey TubeN2
I love fishing for Largemouths too, I do it regularly, but Peacock Bass are one of those species I'm addicted to catching. The way they fight, and the way they look, they should be a "must catch at least once" on an anglers list. I'm telling you, a 4 pound Peacock fights like a 10 pound Largemouth!! It's really cool.

I love the Peacocks too. I would rather wrastle some Peacocks as opposed to some whimpy little 18lb LMB.

My closest jouney to catch them is either in Florida or Hawaii. They run about the same size since they were originally placed there from the Brazillian strain.

They are a blast to catch (& release).

The California Fish and Game are contemplating puting some here in California. That would be loads of fun.[cool]

Hey TubeN2
That would be awesome!!!
I have family in Cali, that way when I visit the west coast I can also catch my favorite Peacocks there too.
Thanks for the info.

BTW, no matter how wimpy a Largemouth is, an 18 pounder can put a nice bend on any light tackle rod.[cool]

I used to live in Fort Lauderdale and would fish for peacocks all the time, I miss them. I am actually looking into getting a group of people together to go to the rio negro brazil in December 2009, the bigger the group, the cheaper it is for everyone. Maybe I should post something here to see if anyone is interested...
