is this set up ok - kunegochu - 07-06-2008 im new to fishing i bought a fenwick eagle gt rod with a shimano sedona 2500 fb. what kind of fish can i catch with this rod [signature] Re: [kunegochu] is this set up ok - fretfishman - 07-06-2008 not sure what your length and action are on the rod, but I know the eagle gt's are only ultralight and light. if that's the case you'll have a real nice rod for trout, crappie, other panfish, shallow walleye work and light bass work (low to no cover). I wouldn't fish medium to heavy cover, catfish, pike, lake trout or anything similar with it, though. I bet smallies would be a blast with that rod whenever they're hanging in the flats, though, as long as it's light cover. I use a med fast for my poppers, but as said you will have a challenge near weeds. Keep the line high.[cool] [signature] Re: [kunegochu] is this set up ok - tubeN2 - 07-06-2008 Hi and welcome to Big Fish Tackle. Thanks for taking the time to register as well as giving up a good question. It sounds like you have a very nice starter rod/reel for just about any type of light to medium light freshwater fishing. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Fishing reports are also nice and a picture of your catch will only add more points.[cool] [signature] Re: [kunegochu] is this set up ok - kunegochu - 07-06-2008 i am heading over to castaic in a few days, are largemouth bass impossible to catch with this and 8 pound test. if so what do you think i should go after. this lake is 5 miles from my house and will be my most visited lake so please help, also thank you for the advise [signature] Re: [kunegochu] is this set up ok - tubeN2 - 07-07-2008 If you are fishing the lower lake or the Lagoon, you should do good with that set up for Largemouth Bass. You will need a lighter setup for the Panfish.[cool] [signature] |
