From CT 30 CS high speed to the CT 45c and even the CT 55C. Well in that case I use the Quantum boca series reels for Amberjack which would be just like fighting one of the west coast yellowtail. Most of the fish are 30-50 pounds with plenty getting near 70. A few weeks back I landed a 93 pound monster. I run 50 lb mono with an 80 flouro leader. California Yellowtails can be the same way. I did a few line tests that enabled me to bring some big boys to full color with 15lb test while trying to keep them out of the weeds. Other anglers were getting broken off with 60lb test while trying to play tug o war with them. When I pesonally don't know the angler, I will always suggest bigger setups. If I am working for the JP on a boat I will usually kick it up a notch so that I don't get spooned and the crew gets the JP. You got to come out some day.
