I've never been there, but blue gill are pretty much like any other panfish. Find structure and the fish will be there. They hold deeper in the cooler months, and move closer to the shallows as the water warms up. Small coves and slews are great places to fish off of main river systems.

Welcome to the site JIM27JIM,
I think your best bet would be to go to the Alabama board and search around there. I am sure there are fellows who frequent that board that could put you on to some gills!
