Something even I can catch. I don't really care beyond that. If I could get one species figured out and be consistent I'd be happy.

Re: [lov2fish] If Utah officials deliberately introduced - Jacksonman - 02-15-2008

I know they are already all over Utah waters, but I have a fish fetish with Tiger trout. I have seen how big they are getting in Scofield (can't wait for next year's ice on by the way) and can onl imagine their growth rate in places like Strawberry, Jordanelle, FLaming Gorge or even Deer Creek. If it was up to me, at least some would be put in all of these lakes. And since their population can be controlled, there is no worry of taking over or interbreeding.

I would also love to see Tiger Musky, if we can start getting them in again, placed into several different lakes.

As for other species, Utah seems to have one of the greates diversity in fish types in quality and quantity than any other state that I have researched in the West. I might end up in Jackson Hole, and although it might seem weird, I think I would really miss fishing Utah. On that note, I would love to see more Yellowstone cutts down here, but they are in E-lake. I can't think of anything else besides maybe Peacock bass.

But if DWR is reading this, I am 100% for stocking some Tiger Trout in just about every large trout lake!! They just fight so good and have such pink meat and grow so fast!

[#808000]Hey Jacksonman, if you end up in Wyoming it won't take long and you won't want to go to Utah all the often, LOL.[/#808000]
[#808000][/#808000]
[#808000]A little off topic but Wyoming does have every game fish that Utah has, even Tiger Trout, and Tiger Musky. You would just have to travel east of the Continental Divide to fish for anything but Smallies, Kokanee, and Trout.[/#808000]

Re: [Wyobraz] If Utah officials deliberately introduced - Jacksonman - 02-15-2008

I know that I would be OK in Jackson. I have done 4 summers there and have loved the yellowstone cutts and the lakers, but that's almost all you can find. A few small brookies and some random bows also. It seems that anything else will take quite the drive.

If I do end up in Jackson, I won't complain, although I will miss some aspects of my location here in Provo.

It would be nice being so close to the Snake, Jackson Lake, paliSades, South Fork, Henry's and Island Park. Plus, the hoback is my favorite river to fish of all time. Hopefully I can make enoughy money to buy some property there in the next 50 years.[Sad]

As long as we're dreaming how about sturgeon. Not sure if there are any waters suitable for them though.

[Smile]if I could have my choice and they would make it hear it would have to be peacock bass. Don't think that they would make it long in our cold water.

Florida strain Lmb. I know of quite the few places where they would survive the winter with no problem. And get HUGE!

Hey, I heard that they already are in Utah lake![Smile][Wink][Wink][Wink]

Seriously, my vote (wish, dream) would be for California golden trout being put back into some high Uinta lakes.

Sounds like you maybe as obsessed with the highly prized golden as i am. Are you talking about what they call the "Kern" river golden trout? Sorry it wasn't my intent to "Hijack" but i have fishing issues with the "golden trout"

Re: [lov2fish] If Utah officials deliberately introduced - lordCrappie - 02-16-2008

Of course it should be the Crappie!!! 2lb Crappie everywhere would be my fantasy.

Re; "Are you talking about what they call the "Kern" river golden trout?"

Oncorhynchus m. aguabonita.

It's nice to dream about it. I don't see life letting me get to the Wind rivers or California anytime soon.
