2008/2009 Fishing regulations - BrianID - 11-21-2007 Here's some information I found on the F&G website. I would expect a copy of the 2008/2009 regs to be on the F&G website in a week or two. "The Idaho Fish and Game Commission, during its quarterly meeting November 15, adopted proposed 2008-2009 fishing rules, without changing current Silver Creek rules. New fishing rules include statewide changes in the legal sizes of crayfish traps, seines, and cast nets; changes in sturgeon fishing equipment requirements, and new restrictions on the use of live bait. The rules also include a change in the general bass limit north of the Salmon River to six bass any size and creates a year-round season." I sure hope they aren't more restrictive[unsure]. [signature] Re: [wiperhunter2] 2008/2009 Fishing regulations - BrianID - 11-27-2007 Sorry about the slow reply. I don't know exactly what was decided yet but do know what they were considering changing. Restricting sturgeon to a single hook and how the sinker can be attached to the line were what the F&G proposed to change. [signature] Re: [BrianID] 2008/2009 Fishing regulations - Mojo1 - 12-13-2007 I believe the rules change was to allow only single barbless hooks with only one point (no treble hooks) and to require the use of a break-away sinker system (i.e. a slider with light line for the dropper). This would enable any fish that bites on a baited hook that was snagged on the bottom to escape. Yes it has been a probelm. F&G or Idaho Power divers found 3 dead sturgeon pinned to the riverbottom just below Strike Dam in one dive a few years ago. (Idaho Power guys also dragged up a wad of braid that was enormous, using grappleing hooks and a cat.) I'm having trouble wording this properly, but the rules changes are good for the fish, and that's a good thing.
