rod and reel combo - marito001 - 11-10-2007 Hi! I was wondering if it´s a good idea to use a trolling reel on a spining reel, to fish on the surf. I want to buy a reel that can handle at least 400 yds of 25 lb test line. So Is it a good combination? what are your recomendations on a surf combo, like I said I want a reel that can handle lots of line. Thank you so much [signature] Re: [marito001] rod and reel combo - tubeN2 - 11-12-2007 Although it is not recommended, it can still be done if you have nothing else to use. The guides on the Spinning rod are rated slightly different from those on a bait casting rod. The design of the backbone of the rod is also set to be best in the direction in which they are placed.[cool] [signature] Re: [marito001] rod and reel combo - gdn443 - 11-12-2007 You may want to consider putting braided line on the spinning reel as you can put more line on due to thickness per lb diamiter. It just seems to hold up better especially in the salt water.[cool] [signature] |
