Here are a few more pics from vacation... - remo_5_0 - 11-07-2007

I guess I could put these in the saltwater forum but since I caught them on a fly rod i'll put them here. The Spanish Mackerel was down in Key West (caught tons of em' and a few Cuda's, the Bone is from Cozumel (again caught lots). Thanks for looking.

[cool][green]Hey there remo_5_0 thanks for posting your fly catch here. When I first came to Calif they talked about catching mackerel in the Pacific - but they were small compared to the Atlantic mackerel. [/green]

...I have seen numerous shows on fly fishermen down in the salt catching the bone fish.. it amazes me how they do it for one and then to watch their reaction as that fish hits the fly and takes off like an underwater rocket.. thank you for sharing those pictures..

The Bones are lots of fun, they can really pull some line, the ones I caught in Cozumel are on the small side, up in the Bahamas they get much larger. Anytime I can fly fish in the salt I will take it and I don't care what I catch, you never know what you might hook into in the ocaen.

Hey Dryrod,

Those Mackerel are loads of fun, they hit hard and are very fast they almost feel like a Bone, when I was fishing down there I forgot that most ocean fish have teeth and I lost lots of flies and leader until I ran to a shop and grabbed some steel tippett. I won't make that mistake again.

[green][cool]Back when I live in the Miami area I did fish for Spanish Mackerel & Barracudas. Too bad that I wasn't into fly fishing then for I imagine catching them on a swatter has got to be a blast.[/green]

Nice report remo and thanks for sharing.
I do alot of saltwater flyfishing. I generally tie on some Tyger leader for the toothy critters. It works well in fresh and salt water.[cool]
