Archery hunting report - lonehunter - 10-17-2007
My 6 point came in last night , one shot and boy did it haul tail out of there !
Within 25 minutes it was total darkness , searched high and low till the batterys gave up and used the lighter and compass to find my way back out .
went back today and followed what tracks I could find that wern't washed away by all the rain . No blood trail , just broken branches , kicked up leaves , and looking for the path of least resistance for an escape route .
Found 8" of the fletch end of the shaft 120 yards out , searched a grid pattern the rest of the evening , 15, maybe 20 achers of heavy woods , no luck finding the harvest .
Go figure , that one little piece of stick , but no sign of that big ol' buck , I gotta get better at this stuff !
