Fish Bones - boneman - 09-28-2007 [font "Times New Roman"][size 3]I recently started up a business that produces skeletal fish art. It’s kind of a hybrid between traditional taxidermy and museum preparation. I am looking for some input as to what species are big in this area (salt or fresh water) and what would make a cool skeleton. Check out some our work @ www.helterskeletons.com and let me know what you think.[/size][/font] [signature] Re: [boneman] Fish Bones - tubeN2 - 09-28-2007 Welcome aboard boneman and what an interesting business you have. Where is your business located?? That would help in giving some insight as to what species are around.[cool] [signature] Re: [boneman] Fish Bones - trowtslayr - 09-28-2007 That is a very interesting business and those skeletons are way cool looking, i think a tiger musky would look awesome with all those large teeth! But like tn2 said what area are you in? [signature] Re: [tubeN2] Fish Bones - boneman - 09-29-2007 We are located in Stuart, Florida. I grew up hunting and fishing down here and have a good handle on the popular species in my area. However, I'm very interested in what hot around your neck of the woods. I can get you a list of the more exciting species to deal with.[cool] [signature] Re: [boneman] Fish Bones - Fishhound - 10-02-2007 [black][size 3]That's some pretty cool looking stuff you do there boneman ! [/size][/black] [black][size 3][/size][/black] [black][size 3]The only really unique species we have in this area is called the June Sucker. However, being a federally protected species on the endangered list, I think some folks would frown on me taking one just to disect it for the purpose of looking at the bone structure.[/size][/black] [signature] Re: [boneman] Fish Bones - tubeN2 - 10-03-2007 Some of the more sought after fish on my side are as follows: White Sea Bass Halibut Yellowtail Vermillion Rock Fish Ling Cod California Sheepshead A little further south we can find: Albacore Tuna Skip Jacks Big Eye Tuna Yellow Fin Tuna Blue Fin Tuna Blue Marlin Black Marlin Striped Marlin Sword fish [cool] [signature] Re: [tubeN2] Fish Bones - boneman - 10-06-2007 Thanks for the great feedback.
