fish skins - horatio1226 - 09-09-2007 Hello All I am interested in purchasing fish skins to put on the backs of longbows that I make. Generally I'm interested in sturgeon or carp, but I would be interested in any skin 30" or longer. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Brian [signature] Re: [horatio1226] fish skins - Dubie - 09-09-2007 My suggestion, go fishing [ ![]() Or maybe check out the taxidermists near you. They might have stuff kicking around they could give you. [signature] Re: [Dubie] fish skins - horatio1226 - 09-09-2007 Hey Dubie What a great suggestion. Unfortunately I don't have the time to do all of the things that I'd like to do. When I back a bow with rattlesnake skin, I don't have to go and wrassle a rattlesnake, thank God. I was thinking that by buying something that a fisherman might be throwing away, I might be supporting a fishermen's hobby. What do you think my chances are? Have you concidered other reptiles? snake or lizard that are leagle to take that could be leagly sold as a leather product by a game harvester? The fish skins can be air dried and the scales left on. Thanks, Brian [signature] |
