Channel Islands fishing questions? - Gumbo - 07-09-2007 I'll be sailing out to the Channel Islands, Santa Barbara Island in particular, in a couple weeks. I plan on long-lining something out the back of the boat during the sail and possibly fishing the the dinghy while at the Island. While I'm a fairly experienced fresh-water angler, I don't have a clue what to use or which techniques are best in salt water. Any suggestions would be appreciated. As far as the inshore goes, you can fish Big Hammers, Worm Kings, Fish Traps and other plastics in the kelp for some nice Kelp Bass. Your standard Bass gear for freshwater should be enough. 12lb test is about all you need for most of the other species in the kelp too. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.[cool] [signature] |
