Castaic is practically in my front yard. That is my favorite stomping ground.
We have some good bass there too. The state record is from there and it is only 1/2 lb shy of the World recrod from your area.
Let me know if you ever come out this way. I can show you around the lake and get you into some good bass. I don't have any records there yet but I have caught some decent one out of there.
I have a few spots that I have been baby sitting over the years there. I've watched some go from 5lbs to 18lbs. I have seen others that were 12 and 15 pounds that have disappeared from the lake. There are too many people that claim to be bass fishermen and end up keeping the fish[crazy]. I return all my Bass to grow and turn into records some day.[cool]

If Ive ever out in southern cali I'd have to take you up on that. Lake Castiac and Lake Fork texas are my 2 dream lakes. Im lucky to have access to all the ponds on the af base here and you always have to chance to catch fish up to 10 pounds. But Castiac is susposed to be the mecca of largemouth bass fishing. I'd like to learn some of the differant technics yall use out there and apply them to my arrsonal on these southern fish. If a jet breaks in your area I'll volunteer to come and fix it just so I can sneek off and catch some cali bass [

There have been rumors and some good Photo Shop(retouched) reports in the past couple of years from Castaic and from Lake Dixon. I don't hardly believe them myself.
I have quite a few reliable sources around here and trust them.
There were a ton of people watching me in my float tube when I caught, weighed and released an 18lb 6oz hawg from the lower lake at Castaic. Some people even had the nerve to chew me out for releasing it. They didn't understand my reasoning of letting a big Bass go so that it can get bigger.
That would give me a chance to catch a potential record later on.[cool]

I have a feeling the next world record will come out of that area. The genetics are there and the fish have longer growing seasons. Just about year long, I know a guy here that says he caught a 25 pound largemouth a released it in the Ocmulgee river. Im not saying he did or didnt, Im sure he caught a big fish and Im certain the river could harbour a world record bass. I have a feeling the record will be broke in the next ten years. I just cant wait to see where it comes out of.
