I'm a long time lurker but have never posted before.
I am planning on fishing Mead for the first time over Easter weekend. We want to target stripers exclusively. I have fished for stipers at Powell before so I at least know something about fishing for them but know nothing about Mead
So far our plan is primarily to troll and fish anchovies if we need to as a back up. I have downriggers and lead core rods so I can cover the entire water column. Looks like we'll be putting in at Hemenway as we will be coming from the Henderson area and I have a good map.
I have no clue as to where to fish. Can someone point me to a couple good areas to fish, both trolling and bait fishing? Also, what are some favorite sizes and colors of lures? I have some basics but plan on adding a few more.
I am pretty much open to anything so if I am way off base with my plans, let me know. I am taking some of my inlaws who don't fish much so I'd really like it to be as sucessful as possible.

There has been good striper activity around B-5 cove and
dle cove. If you can, head out well before sun-up and troll in 20 to 40 feet of water. If you dont land something trolling that area, chum generously with anchovies and use sardines for bait. The sardines are a little more oily, and tend to stick out from the chum a bit. If you dont start catchnig fish on that chum slick in an hour, move on to a different spot. Focus on extended points coming off bigger coves that go down to around 40 feet or so. Good Luck! Post a report when you get back![signature]

I'm not positive on the B5 cove location. It is just farther north and west of
dle cove, correct? I'll be sure to post a report. Also if anyone needs info on southern utah fishing I'd be happy to help. I usually fish a couple time a week.

If you launch at Lake Mead Launch. Go past the pump house water intakes. Follow it all the way around until you see the water buildings and the fish hatchery. Then look for the floating outhouse and a row of marker buoys in front of the cove this is the place. you will also see people fishing from the shore. Hope this helps.
