What's inshore? - Tarpon4me - 02-27-2007 I was curious what all types of inshore fish you guys have up there in CT. I know we are limited to what species are availible inshore off the coast of SC. This is a brief list of what we have: Spanish & King Mackerel Flounder Spadefish Sheephead Great Barracuda (If the weather permits) Pinfish Whitefish Sail Catfish (rare) Pompano Red Drum Black Drum Cobia (not often) Tarpon (not often) Croaker 5 Species of Shark Spot Toadfish Our local inshore baitfish consist of Menhaden(pogeys), Mullet, and cigar minnows. Alot of the fish on that list are either bream sized or less to be desired on a hook. Only a handful are a reconizeable game fish. Though we have tuna, sailfish, and other gamefish off our coast, you've really gotta get out there to get to them. I know gregg has a lund and isn't able to get out too far. And myself with only a 21 footer, I can't reach out and touch them either. I basically wanted to see what the big difference in our local inshore species was. When I say inshore, I mean with in like 10 miles of shore. If you can, I say "Holy Crap!" I might must have to move to CT after all. [ ![]() [signature] Re: [Tarpon4me] What's inshore? - tomc - 02-28-2007 you want within the 10 mile list? that means it will get bigger, lol this list about 80% is within 1 mile, the rest is between2-3. we did have a redfish found on shore last fall,if i remember right,it was in the 10 lbs range [signature] Re: [Tarpon4me] What's inshore? - tomc - 02-28-2007 that far out yellowfin tuna white marlin swordfish atlantic mackerel blue marlin [signature] Re: [tomc] What's inshore? - Tarpon4me - 03-01-2007 I can't believe you've got those species that close in. We have to go way out to get alot of those species here. I guess you're just close to the blue water there.
