Competitive fly fishing to take center stage in May - Fishhound - 02-24-2007

All of the fly fishers who have wondered how they would fair in competition can test their skills May 4-6 at the Fly Fishing Team USA Midwest Trials on the Muskegon River.
The top anglers could earn a place on the U.S. team that goes to the World Fly Fishing Championship in New Zealand next year.
There are four regional trials and usually 40-50 anglers compete in each, according to Paul Prentiss of Boulder, Colo., one of the Team USA managers. The top 10 people are picked and then divided into two teams of five to compete at nationals, he said. Nationals will be in October in streams along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains near Boulder.

George Daniel finished 5th last year (with a McFarland graphite rod I might add) and our very own Lance Egan finished 24th overall. Not too bad for a homegrown Utah boy. These guys have learned a lot from the Europeans and will use it to their advantage. Good luck guys
