Not trying to start a political debate or discuss US history or anything... Just wondering how long the flags have to stay at half mast (is that the right term?) after a US president dies. Sure seems like a long time..... thanks!

It's my understanding President Bush picked 30 days. It was his call to make I guess.

If I remember correctly, 30 days is a standard time for flags to fly at half mast when a president dies. I think it can very for other officials though. WH2
