tips for catching cows? - voss345 - 10-24-2006
im thinking about moving my boat to the race around niantic conneticut (the race is inbetween the atlantic and long island sound) I know there are some real cows i caught a 50 pounder with a guide? is anyone willing to share there setups lures and spots with me or any tips on catching stripers in general?

voss345, welcome to board. Your Question maybe a good one for the CT board. No doudt the Race is the hot spot for our area for large stripers.I too used a guide to get a large one one out there 10 years back. We used 1lb lead with a leader and a Smilie in white.[ jig with bucktail.] Some fellas use live bunker as well. I don't know of any way points to give you as my boat is a tad small for the race. Hope this helps some and come join us on the Ct board.[
