Jordanelle Perchin' and Bassin' report - waldocod - 07-31-2006 Had a nice day at Jordanelle on Sunday. Fished the north side of Rock Cliff along the submerged trees in 16' of water for steady perch fishing (as long as the sun came out from the clouds). The bass were mixed in with the perch...they would follow the perch all the way to the boat.Ended up keeping 30+ perch from 8" to 11".Let go probably 30 more plus 11 smb's.We caught all our fish on 1/8 oz.jig heads with a 2" white curly tail tipped with a piece of worm.I got one 19" bass, I'm guessing 4lbs.Heck of a fight on 4lb.test.3 other bass were 14"-16" and the rest were dinks.I was really encouraged with the perch population...haven't seen it this good in a couple of years. There were perch in every tree and brushy area on both sides of Rock Cliff. The power squadron got the area pretty rolled up.It got my little tin boat a rockin' and rollin' so we left at noon. They were well behaved however, and kept their distance. Is the rock cliffs arm where the provo comes in by the old road that goes clear to the water? The perch wouldn't leave me alone, and I ended up gettin' two decent smallmouths. Sunday was good fishin' too, but no smallmouths today, just many perch. I fished a maribou jig tipped with perch for the perch, and a soft plastic worm or crawdad for the smallmouth. Beware if you are trekking around on shore, as we saw a rattlesnake both days, and my buddy had a water snake try and chomp him while swimming. Good luck dudes... I know Echo and Rockport it is but have never asked about jordanelle. I usually carry a 357 mag loaded to the 7 slot brim with snake shot when i am in an area with snakes. I will have to check it out. How big were they?(rattle snakes) [signature] Re: [lunkerhunter2] Jordanelle Perchin' and Bassin' report - Anthonygreer - 08-01-2006 The two I saw were very small, under two feet long, and very small in diameter. Don't get anxious to throw your setup into a likely area like I did. I just about stepped on one of 'em on saturday. I am not sure if they are capable of striking from the water or not, but i will not let it go that far. I can get my oar out pretty fast![ ![]() [signature] |
