Trout Day is a celebration of the rebirth of one of the nation’s finest urban fishing destinations and an introduction to fishing for children 6-13. Festivities include a kids-only fishing pier, free equipment loans, fishing clinics, snacks and giveaways and most importantly, a lake fully stocked with big fish. [/green] [green] [/green] [green]Lake Merced is on the road to recovery after decades of degradation due to urban pressures. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of California Trout and its San Francisco-area conservation partners, water levels have nearly doubled since the historic lows of the 1990s and the general health of the Lake has rebounded markedly. [/green] [green] [/green] [green]Festivities run from 8am - 1pm, first come - first serve. [/green] [green]Lake Merced is located in the southwest corner of San Francisco near Skyline and Lake Merced boulevards. The program is open for kids from 5 to 16. Adults wishing to fish must have a fishing license. Free parking and shuttles will be available to assist attendees. No reservations necessary.[/green] [green] [/green] [green]For more information on Trout Day visit [/green][green]www.caltroutday.org[/green][green] or contact Mondy Lariz, Lake Merced Project Coordinator, at 408-358-6963 or via email at [/green][green]lariz@caltrout.org[/green] [signature] |
