Deweese - kirbydoggie - 06-12-2006

Went down and fished here on Sat-caught a bunch of smallies. Mostly 12-13" with a few at 16". This is a real scenic spot outside Westcliffe and has some decent smallmouth fishing-I actually catch more quality size fish here than Pueblo. Got most all of them on a senko, a few on a spinnerbait. Real fat, they've been eating good. Fished out of my kayak-this lake is perfect for a leisurely day. 240 ac.

Thanks a lot for the report, kirbydoggie. A 16" smallmouth is a really nice fish anywhere! And so are 12-13" smallmouth. I've never been down there, but I think I'll have to make the trip. Does the fishing hold up pretty well through the Summer?

Yup. The lake is at 8000 ft or so. Water temp probably never gets much above 70.
