Nests contain golden-yellow egg masses witch are guarded by both parents ( at least one is present at all times. ) never white.
The anal fin has 17-21 rays. It averages 6 to 10 inches long.
The female lats 2,000 to 6,000 eggs.
They have over 100,00 taste buds scattered all over their bodies.
