Highland Lakes (Buchanan & LBJ) Guide Report - JimF - 11-16-2005 Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 60 degrees; 1013.80' (7' Low) Falling surface water temperatures have moving bass into creeks and pockets following baitfish. The upper end, from The Apple Orchard downlake to Beaver Creek, is producing the best numbers and larger fish by power fishing "motion baits". Slowing down and working back through productive areas with soft plastics like Snap Back or Big Pig creature baits and green-pumpkin Whacky Sticks are yielding even more bites. Largemouth are good to very good on 2' - 5' flats inside of secondary points of pockets and feeders using a white or silver 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbait, Rat-L-Traps, 2" Spoiler Shads and pumpkin JDC Skip-N-Pop topwater poppers. Stripers are improving with activity early and late on Albino Snap Back jerkbaits, 3" Spoiler Shads and white bucktails w/ trailers. Look for action along mainlake points in 20'-40'from Shaw Island to the Lighthouse. For info. or to book a guided trip for bass or stripers contact JR's Guide Service (www.jrguideservice.com).
