Bait Casting Rods & Reels Suggestions Wanted - skunkie - 07-08-2002
I'm looking to purchase a new Bait Caster rod and reel from Bass Pro Shops and only want to spend up to $125.<br>Is their own line of combos any good? Like the BPS Extreme Baitcast Reel with the XPS Extreme Rod. Are Lew's brand of reels good? Is it better to spend more money on a reel and less on the rod? I have a couple of Garcia bait casting reels and I love them I have an old 5000C and a new 6500CL3. I have had real good luck with these reels they cast real smooth and they can handle larger fish. I use a seven ft custom made e glass St Croix rod, also a spiderwire 6ft rod both these rods have great action. I fish mainly for catfish. Raypaw,<br>Thanks for the info, but I'm looking for a low profile Baitcasting reel and a 6 ft rod. I have used a 7 ft rod in the past, but didn't like it. Have you ever heard of Roland Martin's Signiture series Rods and Reels? Are they any good?<br><br>

skunkie,<br>First I want to welcome you to the BFT message board. Second, in responce of the Roland Martan's series. I have seen them in use and heard mixed comments. Most are good as the performance seems to be very good. The only poor comments that I have heard is in relation to cost. Good luck and enjoy the many friends that you will find hear
