another broken record - davetclown - 05-08-2004
a man in kansas today pulled in a 144 pound paddle fish. he got it near shore and had to jump in the lake to grab it. He didnt have a net big enough to net the fish with. all in all some 35 minutes was all he needed to land this new state record.

I guess we are still on the hunt for a picture of the paddle fish.
seeing the record was broken by 50 pounds it gives wonder as to how long they live and just how big to they realy get.

I haven't been able to find a picture of this record fish, but I did come across a really good article on paddlefish that addresses some of your questions like lifespan (30+ years) and maximum size (maybe as much as 200 lbs.). truly a fastinating read...
an artical worthy of posting on the conservation board... I did not know they were older than the dinosaur.
I find it hard to belive that them nasty taisting black eggs would put a fish on the threatened list...
