Dear River Enthusiasts,
As spring is finally arriving, we are delighted to announce our next River
Walk! Please join CRWC and Friends of WC Wetzel State Park on Saturday,
April 17th at 4 PM to explore Wetzel State Park in Macomb County's Lenox
Township. Wetzel State Park is an undeveloped park on Coon Creek a
tributary to the North Branch of the Clinton River. This is a unique state
park in a rapidly urbanizing area of our watershed, assessable to our 1.4
million residents. Current managed wetlands habitat projects and park
boundaries review are just a few of the topics we'll talk about as we walk
through this Macomb County jewel.
Please plan to meet at 4 PM at the parking lot at the deadend of 27 Mile
Road just west of Werderman Road. Since the park is undeveloped, it will
appear as though you're driving into some vacant fields. Dress for a modest
April hike, approximately 1.5 hours, and remember...the trails may be a bit
muddy!
After the River Walk, you're invited to join Friends of WC Wetzel State Park
for a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at Huron Pointe Sportsmen's Club at 35800
28 Mile Road in New Haven. Work up an appetite at the River Walk and join
the Friends for dinner and a raffle. Adults: $6, 12 & Under: $3, 5 & Under:
Free! The group is raising funds for the ongoing stewardship work they
coordinate at Wetzel State Park.
