Largemouth In Action? - UTBASS - 03-26-2004 Has anyone ever watched a largemouth in action? In the water? [signature] Re: [UTBASS] Largemouth In Action? - JapanRon - 03-26-2004 Hey there UTBASS, A lake here in So Cal, Lake Casitas, has waters so clear that you can check out the bass down 25 to 30 feet going about their fishy business. You can see vegatation, rock structure the hole bite. Some bass are so big and used to boats they don't care if you check them out with a home made viewer. JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] Largemouth In Action? - UTBASS - 03-26-2004 really? have you caught any monsters there? I hear Casitas can hold some big ones. It's always a great thrill to watch. [signature] Re: [UTBASS] Largemouth In Action? - tubeN2 - 03-26-2004 The average size out of lake Casitas is 5 to 7 lbs. Ocasionally there are some in the 10 to 12lb range. There was so much harvesting out of there not too long ago so any of the bigger bass couldn't get enough size to them to be considered for CA trophy class. There is one more lake about 45 miles from Casitas. It is called Castaic Lake. It has some trophys in there. The CA state record was pulled out of the upper lake in 1991 at 21lb 12oz. It was released into the lower lake where I fish alot. There are others in the lower lake in the 18 to 20 lb range and better. I am going there this weekend to catch some. My niece keeps asking me to come up and visit with them for a while. Naturally the invitation includes my Husky. She lives in 1000 Oaks which is only 45 miles from Casitas. [signature] Re: [Dryrod] Largemouth In Action? - tubeN2 - 03-27-2004 Hey Dryrod, They aren't as big there in Casitas. I think their lake record is only 14lbs. I used to go there quite a bit. I mostly caught 5-9 lbs. I only had 2 that were over 10. 1 was 10lb 4oz and the other was almost 11lbs. Those are some of the babies as Castaic. They are fun though. For me fish are fish whether they are 2, 6, or 10lbs. I don't fish for bragging rights.[/size][/#800000] [signature] Re: [Dryrod] Largemouth In Action? - tubeN2 - 03-27-2004 [ ![]() [signature] Re: [UTBASS] Largemouth In Action? - daymere - 03-27-2004 i caught a few 12 pounders here and they are awesome to watch when they strike really awesome when useing top water baits. [signature] Re: [daymere] Largemouth In Action? - UTBASS - 03-28-2004 Do you use big black worms for the topwater? I have heard that some guys use weightless 7 to 10" worms on top. What attracts the big boys up? [signature] Re: [UTBASS] Largemouth In Action? - daymere - 03-28-2004 sometimes i use 7 and bigger on top but i very the colors to the water clarity.sometimes i use a crappie float the one that rattles and pops and tie it on 2 ft in front of it and it looks like a snake cahseing a small baitfish .
