UNDER WATER CAMERAS? - fyshrmn - 03-20-2004 FOR THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE UNDERWATER CAMERAS OR HAVE SEEN THEM IN USE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW WELL THEY WORK IN STAINED WATER. MOST OF THE WATER AROUND HERE YOU CAN SEE BETWEEN 1' TO 4' ON A GOOD DAY. THEY ARE A MAJOR INVESTMENT AND IF YOU CAN'T SEE THAT WELL THEN IT'S NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Of all I have used I have never found one that worked really good and produced good pictures when the water was murky or there was a lot of suspended particles in the water. I am talking about Nikonos cameras and UDATS cable cameras and a lot more. both in cases and not. I own one and I love it , but in stained water , the distance you can see is alot less than in clear water !! 1-4 ft would be the max !!! .
