Soggy Willard - Jig-fisher - 08-27-2025 Took my birthday off work and planned to go fishing. Saw the weather report and decided to stay close to home. Invited my Dad and we launched around 620 from the north Marina. Still a good 6-7' in the Marina. Started pulling fligs and caught 3 cats and 2 smallmouth bass before running back in before a thunderstorm came through. Pulled the boat out and parked under a big cottonwood tree and waited it out. After over an hour it cleared out so we launched again. Ran to Freeway and again pulled fligs tipped with chub. There was another storm coming but I thought it was going to pass to the west of us. It did, somewhat, but then we caught the full edge of it. What a downpour. There was no lightning so we stuck it out. The sun shade helped block a lot of it, but the wind swirled, blew and rain fell slanted into us anyway. We were pretty wet by the time it passed. We did catch another couple of cats, a nice perch, and a wiper. But it was slow. We moved back towards the Marina and finished with one more cat before calling it a day.  I guess we were a little crazy to be fishing on such a soggy day, but the temperature was warm, even with the rain. Biggest cat was 25", wiper was 16" and the perch 13". Both bass were small, about 10 inches or so. RE: Soggy Willard - TubeDude - 08-28-2025 Most of us in the fishin' community build up fambly fishing rememberies over the years.  My earliest recollections are of my dad letting me hold his rod while he "visited the bushes".  And I just happened to hook and haul out the biggest fish of our trip just as he was returning.  All instinct and no skill.  He was the first to put a pole in my hands.  And I was the last to put one in his. In between are countless fishing trips with other family members.  Those include my kids.  They all grew up learning to fish and enjoying the total experience. Sometimes I took all three.  Other times I made it one at a time.  Super bonding experiences.  And there always seemed to be some special happening...serious or humorous...to identify with any given trip.  Whenever we get together it is a lot of remember when....? RE: Soggy Willard - Jig-fisher - 08-29-2025 Well said, and so true! We do the same. Always some memory to relive, rehash, and more often than not, laugh at. Our most memorable moments seem to be our mistakes, blunders, and the ones that got away.  I love hearing (and lately rehearing) those memorable moments from my dad. When it was pouring on us on Tuesday, it reminded us of floating the Green River as a family and getting poured on as we floated. My younger siblings were crying, mom and dad were laughing, it was miserable...but unforgettable. Back then bait was still legal and we caught a lot of really nice fish. My dad caught a 25" brown that day, what a fish!
