Flaming Gorge yesterday (Wed,) - liketrolling - 08-07-2025 was going to take a granddaughter and great great grandson but something came up so they did not go so went alone for a one day trip left my house at 2 30 am went to Lucene put the boat in the water and went north in Wy. about 20 min drive it was light enough to see sun was just coming up when I got to where I wanted to go, 3 other boats were there. in 15 min I had 4 kokanee lost one big one at the boat could not net him, so got 3 in the boat that is all you can catch. biggest was 23 in. all male and turning red. that was 15 min. of fun and hell almost lost a fishing pole things were going so fast the pole went in the water but the hook got a hold of something in the boat got the kokanee down 45 and 50 feet using all home made stuff the dodgers had green in them and glow went back to the Utah side another 20 min drive it was about 7 am. hoping I would have a good day catching big Lakers but no luck did not see any one catching any a lot of them on the fishfinder one guy I talked to said he would like to catch one to see what they were. came home after I got tired of being in the hot sun I think it got up to about 95 deg. next time I go will need to take a boat load so we can fish for Kokanee longer. Kokanee fishing at Flaming gorge has been good for me this year it was easy to get limited and not a lot of boats this year RE: Flaming Gorge yesterday (Wed,) - Piscophilic - 08-07-2025 (08-07-2025, 04:01 PM)liketrolling Wrote: was going to take a granddaughter and great great grandson but something came up so they did not goThanks for sharing your report! I'm glad you got some good ones, getting up at 2:30 is brutal! No way in the world will I get up and leave home at 2:30 in the morning for a 3 hour drive in the dark. I'd be fast asleep and in the ditch before I ever got to Evanston. Going to Jordy would have gotten you 2 more hours of sleep and you can keep 4 kokanee from there. But, hey - you keep on being you for as long as you can. Tight lines always. ![]() RE: Flaming Gorge yesterday (Wed,) - stan55 - 08-07-2025 Nelle is slowing down. Only got two this morning. Both were around 18 inches, 40 feet down. Fish are there but not biting. Getting pinker every day. Yesterday I had lines in at 8:05, caught the first one at 8:30, then a second at 9:30. Then it died. Lots of fish marked, coming up or down to have a look then turning away. I went hitless for 5.5 hours. Caught my third fish at 3:00 and my limit fish at 3:50, both on a chartreuse home-tied wedding ring. Not sure if it's just getting late in the year or it's the moon phase. I'm winding down as I have plenty in the freezer. RE: Flaming Gorge yesterday (Wed,) - Bduck - 08-08-2025 I'm no stranger to the turn & burn to the Gorge. I do it 2-4 times a during the spring & summer combined. I always show up back in the home territory in rush hour, can't avoid it mostly. This year I haven't been fishing do to knee surgeries and rehabbing. I'm getting close for an adventure soon; I'm chomping at the bit.
