Navionics vs ???? - Bduck - 03-23-2025 So many questions in this area. To start with ; 1-Are you still using Navionics Charts ? My Raymarine Element HV 9 came with North America Navionics Charts as my choice 2-Do you maintain updates annually ? I maintained updates for the first year of the subscription and let it expire after that. In the past I had other devices that also had Navionics installed but let them expire too. Mostly what I was seeing in updates was land charts 3-As most own a chartplotter device does anyone plot out their favorite fishing sites ? I personally never have done that but had thoughts of doing it, it never developed that way for me. I do use the mapping for onsite travel for objects of shallow areas and for other safety purposes. With my limited use of the lakes I venture to, its mostly by memory Another option for Raymarine Axion & Element series chartplotters is called Lighthouse Charts. Lighthouse is their own app which I'm considering this in place of Navionics also has a North America version as well as other global selections. I can't answer if it will be something better, but it looked interesting North America | LightHouse Charts | Nautical Charts | Raymarine RE: Navionics vs ???? - dubob - 03-23-2025 I bought the Navionics Hotmaps Platinum - West ($200) when I got my Thunderjet in 2017. I then paid $100 per year to renew/upgrade it. I could also plug it into my computer and download all the data updates provided by users like you & I. My single use for the application was contours of all the lakes I fished. Didn't feel like I needed any of the other functions it had. My new Lund will have a Garmin Echomap Ultra 106sv and it comes with that contour information for life with the ability to update on the fly via Wi-Fi as long as my phone is on the boat and turned on. Still don't think I'll use anything other than contours. YMMV. RE: Navionics vs ???? - Bduck - 03-24-2025 I too used the western Hotmaps and the contours. Navionics has also expanded into US, Canada, & Mexico on one program. For me it would be a lot of useless territory since not traveling too far from home, its for the same price unless that's changed. Garmin, I believe has taken over ownership of Navionics.
