DWR News Flashes - TubeDude - 12-07-2024 There are a couple of interesting articles in the current DWR newsletter. One is that Scofield is being designated a blue ribbon fishery. LINK TO ARTICLE Another is about the new state record bluegill...2 lbs. 8 oz. caught at Quail Creek. And that article also lists all of the records for Utah. LINK TO ARTICLE [attachment=1983] RE: DWR News Flashes - wiperhunter2 - 12-07-2024 Always great to read the record fish in Utah, one that I don't remember is that record Bonneville cutthroat that was caught in Lost creek in 2022 and was 10 lbs, 2.24 oz. It was 28" long and had a 17.5" girth. I see Bearlakefishguy has the record for the largest catch and release Bonneville whitefish. A record tiger trout was caught and released last year out of Scofield, it was 32". . RE: DWR News Flashes - gofish435 - 12-07-2024 Thanks for posting that information, Pat. Attached is the picture of the C&R record tiger out of Scofield. Gorgeous fish! ![]() RE: DWR News Flashes - wiperhunter2 - 12-07-2024 Just think, that was likely one of the TT that was stocked after the lake was killed off, they sure grow big in there. I worked at Bear Lake for 31 years and netted thousands of whitefish and have never seen one the size of the one I caught that day. The week before my friend had caught a really nice Bonneville WF and we measured it and realized it was the state C&R record. So, we took a picture of it and let it go. We turned in the paperwork to UDWR and my friend asked me how long I thought his new record will stand? I joked and told him "until I break it". LOL Anyway, the following week my friend was fishing with his father right next to me and that is when the I caught the fish. I put it in a cooler with water and used my electric motor to move over to his boat so he could verify the length and to take a picture. He could not believe it and neither could I. His record existed for only about a week. My C&R record is only about 1.5" longer than the catch & keep record, but the weight of the fish I caught would estimate at well over 5 lbs. I wish anyone good luck at beating the either Bonneville WF state record. As I said, the new biologist at Bear Lake said they caught and released 2 Bonneville WF that were larger than the current catch & keep record, so there are big fish out there.
