I use mine in shallow water, like UL etc. Take it off when I go deep.

I looked into the S cable several years ago for my FL-8 but never gave it a try. I think it was supposed to reduce interference. Can't remember if it cuts down on the power output for weedy conditions. I never followed thru with it. My Vex FLX-28 has a half power mode which I will use in shallow water (10 feet or so). I like that feature, so if the S cable is supposed to reduce the power output, then it may be worth looking into. Sometimes in very clear water conditions, I can't seem to turn the gain down low enough on our FL-8's to get a thin green line for the hook. Not so with the FLX-28 set on 1/2 power mode.
