willard 10-25 - fishskibum - 10-26-2019 Went into my happy idiot, legal tender struggle gig and cranked out a few hours of OT to help with fundages to replace some of the gear I left on the bottom of hells 1/2 acre, if it hasn't floated to powell yet was on the n dyke by noon 54 degrees slight wind chop and im going with cold as the water temp Didn't see a boat aside from the quackwhackers on the other side till 2ish Saw the 1st target with a 100 yards and that would continue rarely having to walk more than that to the next target Which was good as I was gittin close to 0 fer 20 with most being the slink away to the depths refusals a few crap, pile cast, linings, which results in the gtfo high speed spook away Waters pretty murked and the whole games based on sight so I blew a couple eats and was having a tough time telling whether they were inspecting or dining and because your throwin over rocks your gonna snag some flies 9 outta 10 you can throw a hard roll cast and unhook but the great majority of the time that roll cast is gonna make your target unhappy poopfish pro tip 2 kinds happy and unhappy and I haz a hell of a time gittin the unhappy ones to eat lies were tough yesterday with the majority being up tight on the rocks often breaching and perpendicular to the dyke Throw in the cursed milk weed and whatevarz that other evil line grabbing podded plant is and sometimes I don't even bother to throw mostly singles a few pods eventually I managed to do it all right and puts the bend in the whippy sticks Having regained the mojo and gitting better lies I think I 8 outta 10ed the next mile cool thing about the rubber lips is once you sink that barb rarely do they come unstuck other cool thing is theyre carp nobody really cares how you handle em or what you do to em well aside from shooting them with arrows and leaving smelly carcasses to rot and even then only the latter really bothers me they are pretty photographic in their own way and can put a decent fight. Had no charge in the waterproof Nikon which sucked cause it takes nice pics in situations I don't want to put the phone in Stuck 3 or 4 on the way back 1st time ive had this happen colder waters got em fairly lethargic and I throw 1x floro tippet so I was able to git away with it negative wiper signs seen cheers anyhow [signature] Re: [fishskibum] willard 10-25 - 1sthound - 10-26-2019 FSBUM, Looks like a you had a good trip and dialed em in eventually. Looks like a blast with a fly rod got some fun tugs [signature] Re: [fishskibum] willard 10-25 - fishskibum - 10-27-2019 if ya missed the Jackson Browne reference in the last well "when the morning light comes streaming in Git up and do it again" Shouda taken the boat but $25 to launch a motorless craft is bunk Should be pay per horsepower and it should be like my np pass and you should be able to give community service, trail building, fish habitat improvement, general clean up etc in exchange for using a launch or at least a veterans discount imho. Kinda surprised no one was bank fishin the dyke and not surprised the duckwhacker lot was overflowing an hour earlier a few degrees colder not much wind at the start In order to remain the most exstreme skier in this community I outta start gittin in shape after blowing both rotator cuffs I gave this guy up for the sup but bust em out for shuttles and exercise and well sups season aint quite over but the consequences of suckin on the sup are now high good call as way less targets and much more dispersed Bikes an advantage in covering ground , sitting higher allowed ~ another foot of vis in the water divantage, movement and noise tend to bring the unhappy slink or bolt away And youre needing to scan the water and keep an eye on the road found playas got sum to eat swapped out flies to the ballpeen craw aka 4eyed geek Seems the wider silhouette and mur flash turns more fish off But the ones that eat it do so con mas mucho gustos winds cranked up pretty good and the duckwhackers where certainly getting shots Made it out to ive rowed out that far and supped the bear side out in the high water spring, but I never knew there was vehicular access from the back and it may well be private and limited faik head wind back sucked wind tends to bring the suck to fly flinging some will tell you it causes knots in your line but truth be told them are bad casting, possible wind induced or exasperated knots and good sticks can still attempt and occasionally succeed in putting it where it needs to be in strong winds and you donts git better by not trying Not many boats out 1 wake boarder rig a few trollers did see top water commotion and some nervous water that were most likely wipers both at the start and end of the trip in in the outflow cg corner. non of the cool kids say tight lines no more if they evar did bent sticks of hookedupness is what im goin with [signature] Re: [fishskibum] willard 10-25 - E-pointer - 10-28-2019 Very cool pics!
