Don't make to much fun of this old man,
it has been a long time sense I have bought a squid made up from a store
when I did sometimes the first koke I hooked the hook would brake off
and using 15 lb Fluorocarbon leader, you have better action and a stronger line.

Thanks for posting this, very informative. I like to build my own top, but couldn't figure out why my hooks were ending up too far apart.
...I was tying them in the wrong order and diredtion.

Thank you for the info! I learned a lot. I like the idea of using the two loops in the leader. That would be a lot quicker. I have often wondered if by using “loops” you might loose some action compared to tying directly to the snap on the dodger?
