Echo May 14 - dubob - 05-15-2019 [#800000]We came, we saw, we caught! We kept a 2-man limit of 8 fish for the smokers. Water was about 66*F and wind was zero to about 8 or 9 mph. We fished from 8:30 AM until 2:00 PM. Beautiful day with temps up into the low 80s. The wind started to blow hard as we were pulling the boat out of the water.[/#800000] [#800000] [/#800000] [#800000]At friends request, no further details will be forthcoming. Sorry! This area will be for camping and non-motorized boat launching. The Red Rock area (Old Echo Resort area) construction is not slated to begin this year. I was the white and black boat trolling the west side with my 3 year old (her first fishing trip). Being that I don’t have down riggers for my boat I had to rig up a down rigger of sorts to get my dodger and squid down to fish level! It’s not ideal but worked great in a pinch I landed close to 10 rainbows and lost 5-6 while trying to take off my custom down rigger set up but overall was a great day my little girl is now officially hooked on fishing! See what I did there! Anyway you guys got off the lake at a great time at 3pm a wicked wind blew over the lake and things got a little hairy!! I tied my boat off at the dock as my wife arrived with lunch we ate and waited for the weather to clear by 4pm we were back out cruising the lake and the weather played nice until we left at 6! Didn’t catch anymore fish from 4-6 which is fine since I already broke the new boat in earlier in the morning. Overall not a bad way to spend your birthday at all!! She lives in Colorado but my son is a fisherman and I hope we get her and her sisters out for a trip like you had. Those s are worth a million bucks! [ ][ ][ ] Good job, dad.[signature] Re: [T-Boz] Echo May 14 - SkunkedAgain - 05-15-2019 Hey Trenton, sounds like a great day... glad you could have one of those treasures to add to that memory collection.. I wondered why we couldn't see the other person in the boat most of the time. I thought they were laid out flat sun bathing. Turns out she was just one of the wee folks we all adore.[/#800000] [#800000] [/#800000] [#800000]Sorry we meet face to face. Next time. [ ][/#800000][signature] Re: [dubob] Echo May 14 - T-Boz - 05-15-2019 Yeah I don’t let her too close to the sides so she’s easy to miss, but I had my dad out first thing but he left about 9:30 so he didn’t have too much time to try and hook into them, next time!! [signature] Re: [dubob] Echo May 14 - Cowboypirate - 05-16-2019 dubob - great update. Are you seeing anyone getting action on the smallmouth yet? And what about those Walleye the DWR dropped in there. I know they put em in but I dont hear much about any coming out? Looks like mother nature is going to suckerpunch us for a few days. I might have to drag out my spin rig and see if any of them creek fishies want to play until the big water clam back down. I'm not aware of any walleye being caught yet. The plantings started in 2017 with some more in 2018; none yet this year. All of them averaged 0.28 inches in length and average growth rates are 5" first year and 8" second year. The vast majority of them became food for other adult fish already there. It may be another year or two before there is any significant walleye harvest in Echo.[/#] [signature] |
