Porcupine reservoir? - zburninator - 01-02-2019

Does anybody have any current info on porcupine reservoir? I've always wanted to fish it through the ice but never have made the trip. Just curious if anyone knows the ice and road conditions as of recently.

If recent to you was last Saturday, then yes. I was there with two guys. 2.5-3” of sketchy ice. Inconsistent for sure. Fishing was slow. Road was ok up to the dam. Ice is probably good now, but definitely bring a bar and check as you go.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully I can make it up that way in the next week or two.

How did the road look past the dam? Would it be possible to drive to the back?

I still have it on my Not ready to fish yet list, but it should freeze solid any time now. Be sure to check my Fishable Ice list when you are ready to go. We are going into a warm spell, so there are no guarantees.

I was up there around noon today. The lake is capped and the road is passable all the way back. Met another angler and we decided to give it a half hearted try for kokanee by the dam in about 48 fow. Ice was nearly 4”.
As I said the effort wasn’t too serious and none were caught but it was a pretty day to be out and about and it was without a doubt the smoothest ride I’ve ever had on that road.
