Thinking of getting a Kayak - any info would be appreciated - lvfishingdude - 09-22-2018 Since I got into a car accident back in 2017 and had my back fused, I have not been able to fish. It has been killing me not being able to get on the water. My body is feeling better now, but I can't get a regular boat because of the weight and worrying about getting the boat on and off the trailer. I have seen Kayak fishing has been getting really popular, and I am not to familiar with what to look for in a kayak. I know there are a few items I would definitely want to have, just not sure if they are possible or not. My questions are below 1. What is a good kayak that is not junk but not overly expensive 2. I want a fish finder with GPS. Also would like a easy to install transducer. 3. Be able to install a electric trolling motor in the back to use it like a outboard, but need to have either 1 battery that can power both the fish finder and trolling motor, or enough room for 2 batteries. I saw Minkota makes a On-Board Digital Charger, and was wondering if this would be what I need to be able to power all the things I would like. A place for a cigarette lighter so I can plug in my cell phone or other 12v products 5. Be able to have 2 rod holders in front of me so I can troll Any info to these questions above would be appreciated. I also wasn't sure if you have to register a kayak with division of wildlife? I am going to use the kayak mostly on small reservoirs like Sunnyside, Cave Lake, Comins Lake, ect. Maybe on a week day and little to no wind go out on Lake Mead. If anyone ever wants a fishing partner that knows the north end of lake mead and would want to launch out of Echo Bay, send me a message. I will show you my spots, even the spots I caught my 34 & 44 LB Stripers.
