In May Lowrance put out Free Upgrades for Elite Ti, HDS Carbon, and Gen3

At the heart of the release is FishReveal™ smart target viewing, an exciting new sonar feature for Elite Ti, HDS Carbon and Gen3. Plus, HDS Carbon gets massive enhancements to any high-frequency imaging (scanning sonar) transducer plugged into it like StructureScan® HD/3D. Elite Ti, HDS Carbon and Gen3 get a sizable bump in automatic navigation and map readability through the addition of C-MAP® Easy Routing and Navionics® Dock-to-Dock Autorouting capability and the new C-MAP® navigation palette.

The best improvement was on DownScan. Instead of seeing white spots on the bottom(or in the water column), it will show fish colored marks and arches like seen on the normal sonar page. A lot easier to identify the fish laying on the bottom (like cats and sturgeon). I used it on my last trip on the Snake River and was really impressed.

You funny guy...Good luck on your trip tomorrow. Be sure to give us a report. Lowrance has a video on the FishReveal upgrade. Still waiting for software to guide hook to their mouth.

The best part of fish reveal involves allowing contrasted palette selections for the fish and the structure/bottom. Meaning you can separately select the color you want for for fish/structure while adjusting the sensitivity separately. Attached is a couple pics from my Carbon...glare from the sun in one pic, however you can see how fish on the bottom or in the column are distinguished from any weeds etc...other picture shows downscan with fish reveal in a split screen with 2D sonar.

So is the update just for gen 3 and carbon, or can I update my gen 2 touch?

Lowrance has not released any software that enables the gen 2 touch to use fish reveal...I dont think the will. What you can do is network your gen 2 with a gen 3 and enable chirp on the gen 2. Not the same as fish reveal but chirp settings can also help alot.
