Cleveland, Mammoth, & Electric Lake - gofish435 - 05-19-2017

I drove up Huntington Canyon to check on the ponds up there. I checked Mammoth first and it is still covered with ice, it's going to be awhile before it opens up.

Cleveland and Electric are almost ice free.

I fished Cleveland from my tube from 11:00 until 3:00 and picked up a few 15" to 17" rainbows. All of the fish were caught within casting distance from shore so you don't really need to be on the water to catch fish. I used a medium sinking line and size 6 & 8 crystal buggers and the old reliable bead head olive leech. The water temperature was 38-39 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 3'. The reservoir is 89% full and plenty more snow to come down it's rising.

I'm afraid anyone planning to camp up there over Memorial Day weekend is going to be disappointed.[:/]
The road over to Miller Flat is still closed and I'd be real surprised if it will be open by MD.

Sorry, not an ice fisherman.[Smile]

It's too hard to hit the hole with a fly.[Wink]

You did better than I did. I fished Cleveland on Thursday morning for two hours and had one bite. Went down to Electric lake by the dam and fished for a hour with no action. The cold and wind finally drove me away.
